Coast2Coast Challenge

The Coast2Coast Challenge 2017 will take place on Saturday 1st July 2017.

Meeting at Redcar beacon 6am ready to leave by 6.30am

The locations that are required to be visited are;

a. The Beacon, Redcar.
b. The Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough.
c. The Town Hall, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
d. Stanhope, Co Durham – fossil tree.
e. Arch, former Lintzgarth Smelt Mill Flue, Rookhope:
f. Hydraulic engine, Allenheads,
g. Nenthead mines, Nenthead.
h. The Market Cross, Alston, Cumbria.
i. The Cafe at Hartside Pass.
j. Whinlatter Pass is on the B5292 road. Visit the visitors Centre.
k. St Cuthbert’s Church, Lorton near Loweswater, Cumbria.
l. St Michael’s church, Lamplugh, Cumbria.
m. The Beacon, Whitehaven.

The event is open to both cyclists and motorcyclists. Fancy dress is compulsory.
In the case of motorcyclists the maximum CC’s is not to exceed 125. However the event is open to
any size of motorcycle providing that it was registered before 1st January 1960.

There are no Entry forms each rider/pillion of those taking part in the event or in the role as ‘out rider’ are required to enter

a minimum of £20 each on the just giving site which has been created for this event.

This year there will be a ‘Break down Van’ and of those taking part you are required to pay £5.

We are grateful to ‘Porkpie Man’ for providing this valuable service.

Accommodation has been obtained at the Seacote Hotel which I understand has had some renovation works completed.

Myself Wilky and Steady are taking the lead with this event. Wilky will be the Road Captain again and deal with all enquiries re ‘Outriders’

The riders are getting ready for the Boundary Coast2Coast Challenge AKA Beacon to Beacon. The ride takes place on Saturday 28th September and will see riders starting at 7am from Redcar Beacon, travelling to Whitehaven Beacon and returning on Sunday 29th September 2013.

Radio Tees will be at the start tomorrow with an outside broadcast.

Here Steve is all dressed up and ready to rumble.


On Saturday 28th September 2013 a number of the Group will be riding the Boundary Coast2Coast Challenge. The event is open to cyclists, motorcycles not exceeding 125cc and Classic Bikes of unlimited cc provided the machine was registered before January 1960.

A number of the Group are really pushing the boat out to make it a memorable event as you can see by the photos below. If you fancy entering the event get in touch with our Group Secretary Karen. Her contact details are on the forum.
