Monthly Archives: September 2013

The riders are getting ready for the Boundary Coast2Coast Challenge AKA Beacon to Beacon. The ride takes place on Saturday 28th September and will see riders starting at 7am from Redcar Beacon, travelling to Whitehaven Beacon and returning on Sunday 29th September 2013.

Radio Tees will be at the start tomorrow with an outside broadcast.

Here Steve is all dressed up and ready to rumble.

On Saturday 21st September 2013, members of the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group held a bucket collection for the Great North Air Ambulance Service at Tesco’s Superstore Ingleby Barwick. The idea was the brain child of Jo and Steve Saunders assisted by Dave, Rodger, Jules and Peter. Dave and Jo were dressed as Micky and Minnie Mouse and were a huge hit with the shoppers. Here are some photo’s.

The amount raised was a fantastic £459.39p…. Fantastic effort guys.

Everyone connected with the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group will know how hard Gill works in raising funds for our two nominated charities. Gill has been hard at work again and this time she managed to persuade Asda Stores at Thornaby to allow Zoe’s Baby Hospice to be one of the three nominated charities where shoppers place plastic tokens and the one with the most tokens is the winner. We are all pleased that Zoes came second and a result of which Asda have donated a cheque for £50 to Zoe’s Baby Hospice. I also understand that the staff at Asda volunteered to help with any cleaning at the Hospice following the recent flood damage. Big thanks to Gill and Asda.

On Friday 30th August 2013 a water tank in the loft area of Zoe’s Baby Hospice failed resulting in the flooding and damage to a significant part of the hospice. Such was the damage to the hospice it has had to temporarily close. It is estimated that the closure will be for approximately three weeks.

The closure has had a significant effect on not only the babies but the carers as well.

As patrons of the hospice it was decided that The Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group should be proactive in supporting the hospice. Within an hour of us being told Brian went down to the hospice and handed over a cheque for £500 from the Boundary to be spent solely on the babies and carers.

A big thanks to all the Boundary Group for their support.

I think everyone will know how hard Rachael works at Zoe’s Baby Hospice as a fund raiser. She has tried her hand at everything from tombola’s to running marathons. Working at Zoe’s is not a job for Rachael its a way of life and she gives so much to ensure that the babies get as much funding as possible.

Rachaels latest idea to raise funds is to trek up Mount Blanc. Such is her dedication that although she sets off on her travels tomorrow she has turned in today to ensure that after the terrible incident regarding the flooding of the hospice which has led to a temporary closure, everything she can do before she sets off has been sorted.

Coming in on her days off is a way of life to Rachael. Whilst Karen and I were there to wish her bon-voy-arge she was still doing interviews over the phone asking people to help the hospice following the flooding.

If anyone would like to donate to Rachaels latest challenge please visit her just giving site at;

Here the picture shows Karen giving Rachael a helping hand. Well done Rachael for all your efforts, have a safe journey and we will see you on your return.

The entry forms have been sent to the web guys (01.09.13) and will be uploaded asap. Meanwhile here is the event poster.
