There has been a slight change to the Classic route this year in so much as locations to visit. The route will be;
Lord Stones to -
Tan Hill Public House via the Stang.
Down the valley and over the Butter-tubs to the Cheese Factory at Hawes.
Along to the Brymor Ice-Cream Parlour near Masham.
Returning to Lord Stones.

The only change is that we are not stopping at Thwaite.

I will amend the Classic forms and web page asap. Grin Grin Grin

We called in at Tan Hill direct from Lord Stones on Saturday and it took us two hours at a steady pace.
We said our hello's to Tracy's second in command, Ian Anderson (I thought he was in Jethro Tull?), and made sure he knew who we are and that all is ok for the day.
The journey time could easily be improved upon though, as the route was a good bit more casual than the quicker route.

I will be using the Velocette on this years challenge.

Should that read "Classic" or is this submittal of the wrong entry forms catching?

I Like the idea of the way the rear shocks can be used to adjust the hight of the rear of the bike while its on the wrong run  Grin Grin Grin

Hi Paul, I havent seen one of these Velocettes in such fantastic condition since I was a kid. Which model and engine size is it?
Nice to see no oil on the ground as well. I had several old Brit bikes when I was younger which I stripped and carefully rebuilt so that they didnt leak oil. Engineer by trade, plus, I couldnt afford to keep pouring oil in as fast as it poured out.
My wife wants us to do the Classic with you guys, so, hopefully I will get to have a good gander at your bike.
Regards,

Hi Jim will be good to meet up. One tip though dont ask him about the bike unless you have plenty of time on your hands. Like your comment about the oil. Cant wait for Pauls reply. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Thank you for the comments about the bike. Brian used to have a complete 1931 Norton until it distributed its parts on every ride out we had!!  The bike does drop oil if I do not keep the primary chaincase drained, otherwise it is pretty good.  The bike is a 1959 Viper 350 and it goes rather well.  It was a bit of a pig until I fitted the BTH magneto which with some careful attention to the valve and ignition timing resulted in a now reliable starter and runner.  It is nice to own and usually results in people wanting to 'meet' the bike.  I hope that you are able to ride the classic this year. Quite a number of the Boundary Group have classics and now that the weather is improving they may start to appear.  Perhaps Brian will place a couple of photos on the site of his classics.

Brian

Just getting confused - what date is the classic - on the entry forms it says 13th June 2010 - on the web page under "Classic" it says 21st June 2009 starting times seem to be confusing as well 0930 on the entry and 1000 on the web.

I know the web info must be right as the route includes Tan Hill.

Must be my 50 year old brain getting confused.
