In December 2006, 28 brave souls turned up for our first run. All the riders and pillions had to wear a Santa Suit. The event went very well and we raised about £1600.
In December 2007, 130 motorcyclists turned up for the annual ‘Santa’ The suits were provided by Zoë’s Baby Hospice and were paid for by entry fees. The site of 130 motorcyclists dressed, as Santa’s has to be seen to be believed.
The established route the ride now follows is starting from Thornaby Fire Station, travelling through, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar Sea Front and finishing at Kirkleatham Hall for a bacon butty and a brew.
The lead vehicle is a Cleveland Fire engine and Cleveland Police Motorcycle Section provide the escort.
The 2007 ride raised in excess of £19,000.
The 2008 Santa Ride took place on Saturday 20th December 2008, the only difference to the previous rides being the event sponsor, John Simpson of Lord Stones Café, financed the cost of an ‘open top’ double Decker bus that carried Santa, his helpers and local dignitaries around the route.
The 2008 ride raised in excess of £26,000.
The 2009 Santa Ride will take place on Saturday 19th December. The open Double Decker Bus will again be in the convoy. The forms can now be downloaded from the site. The entrance fee has been raised to £10 per ride and per pillion. This includes a Santa Suit, Bacon Butty and a Brew. The sponsorship amount required to be raised by each rider and pillion is £30.

The length of the route is about 22miles. The time taken will be somewhere in the region of one and a half hours possibly longer depending on traffic.
All those wishing to enter, need to register before the closing date which is Monday 14th December 2009.
