This event is now organised direct from the Group’s Face Book page and is normally held at the beginning of July every year.

 

The Boundary 500 Coast 2 Coast Challenge is a new event for the Group. For the first time cyclists will be able to take part in one of the Groups Challenges to help raise the awareness and money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

The event which cover approximately 140 miles involves travelling from the east cost to the west coast or vice a versa at the discretion of the entrant. The start and finish points are either Redcar Beacon or Whitehaven Beacon.

The points/locations to visit on the route are;

The Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough.

The Town Hall, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.

Stanhope, Co Durham – fossil tree,

Arch, former Lintzgarth Smelt Mill Flue, Rookhope:

Hydraulic engine, Allenheads,

Nenthead mines, Nenthead.

The Market Cross, Alston, Cumbria.

The Cafe at Hartside Pass.

Whinlatter Pass is on the B5292 road. Visit the visitors Centre.

St Cuthbert’s Church, Lorton near Loweswater, Cumbria.

St Michael’s church,  Lamplugh, Cumbria.

The size of motorcycle that can take part in the event has been restricted to no more than 125cc’s. However there is no cubic capacity maximum if the motorcycle was first registered before the 1st January 1960.
